What is a B125 Manhole Cover?

A B125 manhole cover is a cast iron cover rated to withstand a maximum load of 125 kN (kilonewtons), which is approximately 12.7 tonnes. The "B" prefix denotes the load class, and "125" indicates the maximum allowable load in kilonewtons as defined by EN 124:1994 — the European Standard for gully tops and manhole covers.

Where is B125 Used?

B125 manhole covers are ideal for:

• Pedestrian zones and footpaths
• Car parks and light-duty areas

• Light commercial areas with restricted vehicle access

They are not suitable for main carriageways, highways, or areas subject to heavy truck traffic.
