What is a C250 Manhole Cover?

A C250 manhole cover is a cast iron cover rated to withstand a maximum test load of 250 kN, approximately 25 tonnes. It is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 124:1994.

Where is C250 Used?

C250 covers are engineered for areas with moderate vehicular traffic:

  • Kerbside channels and road shoulders
  • Slow-speed road sections
  • Car park entrances and exits
  • Delivery bays and loading areas
  • Medium-traffic residential roads

Why Choose Cast Iron C250 Covers?

  1. Durability: 30+ years service life
  2. Load resistance: Excellent resistance to dynamic and static loads
  3. Theft deterrent: Low scrap value reduces theft risk
  4. Cost-effective: Best price-to-performance ratio for medium-duty applications
  5. Corrosion resistance: Resists corrosion in most urban environments

C250 vs B125: Which Do You Need?

| Factor | B125 | C250 | |--------|------|------| | Load capacity | 12.5 tonnes | 25 tonnes | | Typical use | Car parks, driveways | Kerbside, road shoulders |

If the installation area sees any regular vehicular traffic beyond light cars in a parking lot, C250 is the recommended minimum.
